2011 Wiygul Golf Classic & Awards Reception
Advance Registration is now open for the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic presented by Wiygul. Plan on a day of driving both on the course and for a cause --- a portion of the proceeds will benefit ALIVE and we will have a canned food donation drive on the day of the tournament.
ALIVE! (ALexandrians InVolved Ecumenically) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization of volunteers from over 40 religious congregations and the community working together to help those in need in Alexandria, Virginia. Founded in 1969, ALIVE! is the largest private safety net for the needy in the city of Alexandria, addressing short-term to long-term needs for those less fortunate in the community.
ALIVE! serves thousands Alexandrians annually with shelter; low-cost early childhood education and childcare; financial help for rent, utilities, medical care and other critical needs; emergency food; and deliveries of donated furniture and houseware.
Rules of Play/Format: USGA rules govern all play; Captain's Choice Scramble.
Handicaps will not be used in scoring.
Procedure for Play: Each player hits a shot, then the best shot is chosen and each player hits from within one club-length of that spot. The player whose drive is selected isn't eligible to hit the next shot. The best shot is chosen again and play continues until the ball is holed. A minimum of three drives from each player must be used throughout the tournament.
First Aid Kits: The Golf First Aid Kit is a bag of 3 rescue items in the event of a bad shot; one Mulligan (or do-over), one tee (so you can tee up from wherever your ball happens to land), and one 6' string that can be used to move your ball in any direction you chose 6' from the spot it landed. Multiple rescue items may be used in conjunction with each other. However, rescue items may not be used to sink the ball, e.g. the 6' string may not be used to put a ball that is 6' from the pin into the hole. Items may not be used on hole-in-one holes.
